Organic for the Win
Non-organic products can contain harmful ingredients. You know the old adage - if you read the ingredient list and can’t pronounce stuff, you’re in trouble. Many of these ingredients are synthetic, man-made chemicals including sodium laurel, mineral oils, laureth sulfate, and toxins that could be residues of pesticides. They can also contain mineral oil, petroleum, parabens, and other chemicals that, with long-term use, can cause skin irritation, hormone imbalance, organ toxicity, and even cancer.
Using organic products has some great benefits:
- Organic products are made up of ingredients from plants and other things from nature. But what’s NOT in them is important - no pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and other additives or chemicals. So you know exactly what is going into your body.
- Because you know what’s in them - stuff you can identify by name, if you have allergies you will know not to use the product. And, it is less likely that they will irritate your skin because of the lack of harsh chemicals.
- They just work better - you want your bioactives and other plant-derived ingredients to be organic because organic plants have more of the good stuff because they are higher in nutrients.
- You are supporting the planet and the flora and fauna - organic ingredients are better for the environment and have less chemical runoff and other nasty downstream effects.
Now, about those bioactives. This little bit of scientific research is from the Handbook of Ecomaterials: “Botanical extracts are rich in secondary metabolites that occur in plants in a high structural diversity. Phenolic compounds, substances structurally characterized by having one or more hydroxyls attached to an aromatic ring, are classified into simple phenolics and polyphenols, which may be subdivided into tannins and flavonoids. Both flavonoids and non-flavonoids are associated with various interesting cosmetic properties like photoprotection, antiaging, moisturizing, antioxidant, astringent, anti-irritant, and antimicrobial activity.”
Translated into plain language, what they are saying is that bioactives are a great way to get the stuff you need for your skin in ways that your body likes. And Pangea Organics products are full of bioactives, at the right levels (1%-5%) to ensure effectiveness and real results. And it's why our products all average 4.5-star and above ratings, because they work for all the right reasons.
